Welcome to My Markdale

Markdale was incorporated, as a Village in 1888 and in January 2001 became part of the amalgamated Municipality of Grey Highlands. Today Markdale continues to offer the families of the area many amenities. 

The turn of the century style downtown offers up many unique retail shops.  Its churches and several clubs support the community. 

Many are drawn to this agricultural centre for its industry and healthcare.   The residents are diverse including artists, entrepreneurs, a large array of craftspeople and farmers.  Reasonable real estate prices have aided in making Markdale a great place to live or retreat in the summer or winter.  

The beauty of the area draws visitors to the many Bed & Breakfasts, and the ski slopes of the Beaver Valley.  The fact that Markdale also offers sustaining industry, health care facilities- GBHS Markdale Hospital and Grey Gables, library and golf club only makes it more attractive. 

However, Markdale may be best known as the home of Chapman’s Ice Cream, Terra Footwear and Medike.
